TSTC and Pearson Construction were the perfect recipe for building this culinary school.

Culinary Arts Center – Waco, Texas

Project Description

Pearson Construction is proud to have built the new state-of-the-art Greta W. Watson Culinary Arts Center at Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas. The single-story structure is 17,000 square feet and contains three culinary (kitchen) labs, a large dining area, a pre-function lobby, two classrooms, a receiving space, and office suites with a resource area. The Culinary Arts program serves lunch twice a week in the dining room and is open to the public, campus staff, students, and visitors. In addition to serving its academic function, the dining room, classrooms, and pre-function lobby area can convert to a conference center. The ability to use the spaces for multiple purposes was a key design concept. The exterior complements the remainder of the campus by using similar materials and forms. The entrance opens from a long, open-air shade structure. The dining room faces the patio, which encircles a large oak tree on the north side. The asymmetrical gable metal roofline of the dining room adds visual interest to the building’s form.
